Not on viewLabel TextLe Sidaner was first inspired to pursue plein air painting when he moved from Paris to the artist colony at Étaples in 1885, but he soon moved away from this early work towards Symbolist canvases featuring brooding, atmospheric depictions of solitary women. In later years, however, Le Sidaner returned to his artistic origins with paintings of peaceful, unpopulated landscapes and gardens, demonstrating the artist’s enduring interest in the intimate observation of nature, rendered through tactile, flickering brushwork and a bright palette
