A young man, whose facial features resemble those of Kubin, walks dejectedly on a path encircling a pile of dirt. His emasculation is signaled by a luxurious women’s fur coat and dainty heels, likely meant as an indictment of the Bohemian lifestyle of the privileged who remained inoculated to the fray of social strife in the years leading up to the First World War.
